CFS
CFS is a non-profit ministry founded on James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”
The beginning of CFS
In 1978, the leaders of a church in Gainesville, Florida, saw a need to help “the orphans.” CFS was established as a child-placing agency for children in need of parents. The church leaders sought to establish the agency separate from the church. By 1984, CFS had been licensed 6 years. That same year, the church leaders were successful in establishing CFS as a 501 c 3 non-profit.
The Ministry of CFS
CFS caseworkers meet with women who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. CFS Caseworkers discuss options for their child. What would parenting look like with their current support system?
We discuss their life goals and how they are planning to accomplish them. We discuss and/or educate them on adoption and what that would look like for them and their child. We always end our session in prayer.
Expectant Women and Adoption
It is over 40 years since the beginning of the ministry. CFS has been contacted by thousands of women experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Several of that number met with a CFS caseworker. A portion of them made an adoption plan, and a fraction of them chose to place their child for adoption.
How CFS helps Expectant Women
We are there for expectant mothers, no matter her choice, at no cost to her.Women making adoption plans are often assisted with expenses such as housing, utilities, food and transportation. We continue to counsel clients after their delivery.
CFS is Supported by Christians concerned for women
In 2018, the 500th child was placed for adoption by CFS. This milestone was achieved due to the committed involvement of Christians who have supported the ministry over the years.
