A Special Bond

These girls have a very special bond. One that they don’t quite even understand yet.

Today, Violet called her “My Sister, Miss Mella.” (Ella) That’s pretty fitting.

They are both bi products of a special kind of love, one that I’ll likely never grasp the depth of. They are both living, walking, heartbeats with a hope and a future in front of them thanks to their first parents. Thanks to their belief that these girls were worthy of such. That belief was backed by a love that triumphed loss and fear. I imagine that it’s depth mirrors the one described in Ephesians 3:18.

I get so emotional when I see them together because their stories are illustrations of the Gospel in a way that has changed me forever.

I’m so thankful that they have each other. #watchvioletbloom CFS, Inc.

A Special Love

The special kind of love these girls share is they each have a first family, a birth family, and an adoptive family. More people to love and to be loved by! Violet and Ella each have adoptive parents who have shared with them their adoption story. Each are told their first families love them and they were wanted!

The First Mom

When Violet and Ella’s birth mothers discovered their unplanned pregnancy, they reached out to their local pregnancy center. They eventually made an adoption plan with a CFS Caseworker. Each Birth Mother chose the parent for her daughter. Each chose an Open or Semi-Open Adoption.

Adoption Choices

If a closed adoption is chosen by the potential birth mother, she will not know the family where her child was placed for adoption.

A semiopen adoption occurs when the potential birth mother or birth families choose a family for their child. Non-identifying information is shared with the adoptive family. They may keep in contact through CFS, exchanging cards, letters and gifts. They may create independent accounts via electronic media to communicate while keeping their details confidential.

Open adoption occurs when potential birth mothers and prospective adoptive families have a personal interaction with one another. In this type of adoption, the identities of all parties are shared. Interaction can differ from one family to another and may include letters, e-mails, telephone calls, or visits.
