Overall my experience with CFS has been wonderful. My case worker was there with me through thick and thin and with a short amount of time, too. When contacting them I was only a month away from giving birth and without hesitation they helped.
– Lindsie, Birth Mom
Almost a year and a half ago we received “the call” and Mr. Jerry asked how we would feel about having another person to share Christmas with. It’s one of the moments I hope I never forget. Within under two weeks of that call we were home with our daughter and finally a family of three.
Now, our days are full of reading books, singing songs and playing outside.
It is the biggest joy to watch Elliana grow and learn.
She is 16 months old and can count to ten, recite some of the alphabet and is almost potty trained – can you tell we are proud parents? Everyday is something new and exciting and it is a joy and a privilege to experience these moments with her.
If you are considering growing your family through adoption, we hope to encourage you by sharing that the things we were concerned about before making the decision to adopt have not even come up for us. We had so many hard and thought provoking conversations attempting to play out every possible scenario.
Adoption is worth it.
Every home study visit, background check and piece of paperwork is just one step closer to growing your family.
If you are in the wait, we know it is hard. You probably waited more than one year before your profile even went live. It’s hard to see other families being matched and placed and then your sister and your cousin share they are pregnant too, and probably in the same week – the wait is hard!
We truly believe God ordains adoption and when the match is right it will overflow with every detail.
We would go back and tell ourselves to rejoice with each family that has a placement because that match was meant to create their family. It’s also a reminder that your day will come, so fold those baby clothes like Marie Kondo, (re)pack the diaper bag and upgrade your phone storage – you’ll need it!
Finally, if you are considering placing a child for adoption and are unsure what that may look like or how adoptive families may integrate first families into their lives, we hope you hear our heart.
There is not a day that goes by when we don’t think about our daughter’s first mom and wonder how she is, or thank God for building our family the way He did.
We feel so honored that she chose us to raise her daughter and the weight of that is not something we take lightly.
