What an experience today. I woke up in Sarasota, Florida with a 2-week old by my side and tonight we are home for good. The little guy did amazing and I got to see the good in people all day today. We had a 2-hour car ride to the Orlando Airport, 2.5 hours at the airport, a 2.5 hour flight, and a 3-hour drive home. He slept the entire flight and only cried for about 10 minutes total in the car rides. My wife has cried more than that on trips this long!
God put people in my path today and it was obvious. I rolled in to return the rental car and out of the other 20 cars waiting, a guy with a cart walked straight to me and asked if I needed help. He didn’t even know I had a newborn baby and was alone. That was a huge lift.
The lady at the check in for Spirit Airlines found out I adopted and announced it to everyone in line who then gave me an (undeserving) round of applause. She then said a little prayer for us.
We got to security and a super nice lady behind me helped me get all my stuff through.
We got to the gate and got to board early with a baby. That lady asked a few questions (something a lot of people do when a single guy is walking through an airport with a newborn) and then announced it to the entire gate, commencing my second (undeserving) round of applause for the day. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t know what to do in those situations except raise my hand awkwardly to say thanks.
We boarded the plane and the lady next to me was incredible. I found out she is fostering three teenage girls. She helped multiple times, including pulling my check bag from the baggage claim all the way to where my great sister, Courtney, picked us up
To each of them, I say thank you. It may have felt small to each of you, but it added up to a huge help today and I won’t forget it.
Brittnay and I are getting settled in after a wild 2 weeks. Thank you all for the continued prayers and support all the way around. It has been felt and we are grateful.
