Our office has been receiving requests from women who have placed their child for adoption. They have been requesting photos, updates, audio of their child, videos and in person visits. It is important to help women who placed their child for adoption have regular communication with the adoptive parents.

When a woman with an unplanned pregnancy thinks about placing her child with another family, she has many thoughts about the child’s safety, about the child being loved, about the family being who they said they are. Some concerns we have heard from expectant moms considering adoption for their baby are:

I’m concerned that I won’t be able to see the baby!

Will I find the right home? I want a loving, stable life for my baby and open communication with the adoptive parents.

I want my child to have a good home. What if I pick the wrong family?

When a woman with an unplanned pregnancy reaches out to Christian Family Services (CFS) we are here for you. A CFS caseworker will discuss all the options available to you and your baby. If you parent, she will find community resources. If you choose adoption, she will discuss facts about adoption with you and help ease your concerns about the process.

Expectant moms may also be concerned about the baby’s father. If he wants adoption, and accepts the decision of the mother, will he also be a support to her after the baby is placed for adoption? Maybe he wanted her to have an abortion, or maybe he doesn’t care or is indifferent about the baby or adoption?
